Bugo greets with his most powerful rock soul
When the news arrived that April 1st Bugo He would have closed his career with a farewell concert was the suspicion that there could be a joke behind it, a “fish”. But in the end this was not, no “Creduloni !!! we joked”. And so, even if a clear confirmation has never arrived from the stage but only some references thrown there, it seems that the choice of Bugo to close is definitive.
To do this, the musician born on the outskirts of Milan chose the “Festaiola” formula and called to perform a handful of friends on his farewell evening: J-Ax, Aimone Romizi of the Fask and Fernando Nuti of the New Candys.
To greet, Bugo has chosen a formula divided into three parts: the first in the trio (guitar, bass and drums – Bruno Dorella and Cristian Dondi), a furious section, between indie, punk and noise, a second intimate, acoustic, guitar and voice part. Finally with a quartet he returned to electric until he gets to the final party on the notes of “I break my balls” with all the musicians and all the guests and a dozen spectators on stage to sing together and share the last moments of the live.
The first part is the most “wild” one, more impetuous with Bugo to the soloist and the band that weighs hard, with a bass player who has been accompanying him for some time, from the beginning. It is here that it recovers things from the past (“Uh!” That dates back to 1993). An incandescent music that often brings with it inaccuracies and detachment, very visceral, angry, electric, with dissonant noise (also due to a small technical inconvenience on the guitar).
From the start, you can see a great participation from a slice of the audience (which Bugo indicates how his “friends, even if you are all friends here”). A few chat because ardent music does not allow digressions. It is the vault when they go up on stage Aimone Romizi of the Fask (on “Rock’n’roll”, a single from last year). The Perugian rocker (actually welcomed a little coldly), but he does not share the microphone with Bugo but takes his place behind the battery. In the next piece it appears (he, yes, to his instrument) Fernando Nuti the guitarist of the Venetian rock band with remarkable foreign frequency of the New Candys. Some reference to the CCCP (on “Millennia”) and here and there to Skiantos also arrives in his fury Puntkettone.
At the end of the “angry” section, everyone comes out on stage and a few minutes after reapping the protagonist with his acoustic guitar that he attacks to sing, but then stops because he was excited by the cries of the public. It is the “Battistian” moment of the evening, especially in the first song the spectrum of the musician of Poggio Bustone hovers on stage.
The acoustic section of the concert is also the one in which Bugo dialogues with the public, lets himself go to a more confidential opening, jokes, makes fun of it.
After the acoustic moment, a different band returns. A trio adds to Bugo who leaves the solo guitar and “accommodate” in the role of “rhythmic”. It is also the best moment of the concert, the one where the sounds, although remaining robust, of clear rock matrix become more complex, structured, less blood and furious and the songs bring inside an melodic soul that makes them (without exaggerating) almost more pop. At times the soul as a singer -songwriter also emerges, near the author rock. Also in this section more furious and direct moments alternate with the most sought after and elaborate moments.
We then arrive at the end of the third section that approaches the closure with the very hard “butter pasta” on which J Ax (cowboy hat and beard) intervenes with its bars. Then follows an unrealized performance of Bugo, who jumps, throws things and rods of the microphones on the ground, stands up on the drum case … and thinking that a few minutes earlier he had said: “I am a little tired”!
But the real closing party comes in the encore, from a busy stage where all the guests of the evening and a handful of possessed spectators, all together, included, included, to sing the hymn “I break my balls”.
On a radiant but also tense bugo that greets the notes of “prisencolinensininciusol” arrive on which the evening ends.
It is therefore a farewell in the name of rock what Bugo gives, who chooses to retrace his career almost an angry way but leaving the sadness (but not the emotion) of the farewell outside the doors of the Milanese club.
Certainly not a perfect (but long) concert from a formal point of view, but it was legitimate to expect it, this was a greeting, the last (?) On display of an artist who has always been independent (and not only from a record point of view, but rather artistic).
No reference to the past, much less to the inconscious episode of Sanremo, but a summary of a career that has led him to be appreciated for his will and his correctness and intellectual honesty.
Only some references were said to the “value” and the reason for the evening. When they scream “don’t give up” from the public he replies “I give up not to give up, you didn’t understand it” or when he says “I do the tough, but fuck … !!!!”
For the rest it is only Bugo and the most aggressive, blatantly rock, of his music.
