Brad Delson prefers being behind the scenes more than on stage
In a recent interview with Guitar World, the former guitarist of Linkin Park Brad Delson he mused about his possible return to the band.
Delson explained the band’s decision to reunite and start again without doing what they did before. “For everyone it wasn’t like saying: ‘Let’s go back to doing what we did before’. It was like saying: ‘Let’s take what we learned during the break to approach our roles with greater self-awareness and understanding.'” he said.
“I feel really at ease in the studio. I love creating new things. This is what gives me energy on a personality level. For this reason I decided to concentrate my energies in that area and leave my role around to Alex Feder to the world. I think he brings a lot to the show,” he added.
When asked if he would ever return to the stage with Linkin Park, he didn’t rule anything out in his response. “You never know. I don’t have a crystal ball, I can’t say for sure.”
Delson decided to leave the band this year after the announcement of Linkin Park’s live return. “I’ve always felt deeply connected to and proud of our live performances. But over the years I’ve realized that I’m best when I’m actively working with my bandmates behind the scenes: in the studio, collaborating on our new music and helping build our live show,” he wrote in part of his lengthy statement about leaving the band.
However, the guitarist does not appear to regret having to leave. “I remember being at the Forum and watching it,” he said of the band’s September 11 show in Inglewood, California. “We put a lot of love into creating the show. Even though I’m not on stage, I’m still intimately involved. I helped design the set list and the whole flow of the show, and every day we talk about the shows. It’s a huge labor of love “.
He also stressed that he and new guitarist Alex Feder are friends and that he is doing a good job.
Linkin Park’s live return to Italy is expected on the stageSnai La Maura racecourse Tuesday 24 June as the headliner of the event IDays Milan 2025.
