Bindi Award: Here are the winners of the 2024 edition
The final evening of the event was held on July 6th. Bindi Award 2024, event attended by the eight previously selected finalists.
Saint John he won the main prize and the NuovoImaie tourWhile Martha Tenaglia received the Quirici Plaque Award for the best arrangement, while Alexander Boy got the Giorgio Calabrese plaque for the best text.
Saint Johna 31-year-old singer-songwriter from Milan with three albums under his belt, has distinguished himself for his contemporary and poetic writing. In 2009 he reached the finals at Castrocaro, where he was the youngest finalist. In 2010 he won SanremoLab. In 2013 he met Gianni Bella and joined his label, Edizioni Musicali Nuova Gente. In 2016 he was awarded as ‘Emerging Author’ by the Italian Authors Association and in 2018 he reached the finals at the Festival MusicultureThis year he was among the finalists of the Bindi Prize with “This song is worthless” and reinterpreted Bindi’s “La musica è finita” on the final night.
The Bindi Award 2024, now in its twentieth edition, was held in Santa Margherita Ligure from 5 to 7 July. Directed by the Ligurian singer-songwriter Zibbatook place at the Bindi Amphitheatre, with the support of the Municipality, the Liguria Region, Nuovo Imaie and Soundreef.
Born in 2005 thanks to Bruno Lauzi and Giorgio Calabrese, the festival is a point of reference for Italian songwriting, together with other awards such as the Tenco Prize, the Lunezia Prize and the Ciampi Prize. Established in memory of Umberto Bindithe festival celebrates his artistic legacy and that of Genoese singer-songwriters.
The festival is a showcase for new Italian talents, with participants presenting their own song and reinterpreting a song by Bindi. The event includes different categories of awards including the Bindi Lifetime Achievement Award awarded in this latest edition on July 5th to Motta. The award, established in 2016, has been assigned to artists such as Cristina Donà, Vittorio De Scalzi, Mauro Pagani, Ron, Morgan, Marco Masini, Nada and Neri Marcoré. The Bindi Song Craft Award recognizes the behind-the-scenes work of managers, journalists, musicians and record companies that in 2024 went to Nour Al Habash.
Prizes up for grabs include the Giorgio Calabrese Plaque for the best author (this year he won it Alexander Boy), the Quirici Plaque for the best arrangement (in 2024 assigned to Martha Tenaglia)a scholarship offered by Soundreef and 10 thousand euros to finance a 6-date tour for the artist considered most capable of holding a live stage (still Saint John).
The winner of the 2024 Bindi Prize will be a guest at the Music for Change festival in Cosenza from 10 to 12 October.
