Billie Joe of Green Day plays Ozzy, Bowie and Nirvana live
It’s no secret that Billie Joe Armstrong be a Big fan of the coverhaving demonstrated it on several occasions both with Green Day and with his parallel projects, as well as with the solo album “No fun mondays” born in quarantine (here is our review). Just with his other band, i Coverupsdedicated to covers which also includes Jason White, guitarist who accompanies the “Dookie” band in live performances, Billie Joe held a surprise concert last March 25th at Cornerstone in Berkeley, California.
According to what was reported and reported by, among others, the US edition of “Rolling Stone”, during the set the group proposed a lineup of 30 coversincluding several songs already performed by Armstrong with Green Day, along with some new ones. Among the main moments also captured in the videos shared by fans present, include “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne, “Ziggy Stardust” by David Bowie and “Summer of ’69” by Bryan Adams.
According to Setlist.fm, the Coverups – founded by Billie Joe together with his friend Mike Dirnt in 2018 – have also launched into re-readings of “Drain You” by Nirvana, “Last Nite” by The Strokes, “We Got the Beat” by The Go-Go’s, “Where Eagles Dare” by the Misfits and “Surrender” by Cheap Trick.
