Beyond Sanremo: which records to listen to this week

Luckily it’s not just Sanremo: if the Italian recording industry this week will be entirely concentrated on the Festival (with the releases of the first albums of the 30 big names in the competition, from the collection “Ribelle” by Loredana Berté to the reissue of ended up in the vortex” of Annalisa and “Invisibili” by Il Tre, passing through Maninni’s debut with “Spettacolare”), at an international level there are at least four titles worth mentioning coming out this Friday. From Chelsea Wolfe’s gothic rock to Usher’s old school rap.

Chelsea Wolfe – “She reaches out to she reaches out to she”

Seventh album of unreleased songs for the American singer-songwriter and musician, champion of the overseas gothic rock, metal and noise scene. “She reaches out to she reaches out to she”, which marks the return of Chelsea Wolfe five years after the previous “Birth of violence”, was recorded together with TV on the Radio guitarist Dave Sitek, already alongside – among others – Yeah Yeah Yeah, Little Dragon, Weezer, Beck and Nine Inch Nails. The queen of darkness is ready to make fans tremble again with her inimitable style.

Zara Larsson – “Venus”

From Rick Nowels to David Guetta, passing through Danja and Giorgio Tuinfort: it is an all-star team of pop and electronics that has supported the Swedish singer-songwriter in the twelve tracks that make up “Venus”, her fourth studio album. The voice of “Never forget you” returns with her pop made of sticky and irresistible choruses and deadly melodies, ready to make new proselytes.

Usher – “Coming home”

It is the American singer’s ninth studio album. This will be Usher’s first solo project in nearly eight years since “Hard II Love.” It will feature collaborations with Burna Boy, Summer Walker, 21 Savage, Latto, The-Dream, Her, Pheelz and Jungkook. Additionally, Usher will headline the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show presented by Apple Music during the game on February 11, 2024. The iconic Atlanta singer will take the stage at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It is the first time that the match will take place in this city.

Shygirl – “Club Shy”

Produced alongside Kingdom, Boys Noize, SG Lewis, Karma Kid and Sega Bodega, “Club Shy” presents a new side of Shygirl, leveraging her deep affinity for electronic and club music while remaining true to her personality. Club Shy collaborates with musicians from across the music scene, including Empress Of, Cosha and Lolo Zouaï. “Club Shy” is an extension of the club experience of the same name curated and promoted by Shygirl.
