Bellinzona, everything is ready for the Beatles Days

The 2026 edition of the Bellinzona Beatles Days, the longest running “open air” event in the capital promoted by the Patriziato Foundation, will enliven Piazza del Sole and the city center from Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th June with a lively calendar of events not only concerts.

It will in fact be a literary moment – although closely connected to the universe of the seven notes – which will inaugurate it, in the late afternoon of Thursday 11 June. At 6.00 pm, in the City Council Hall, the Italian journalist and critic Franco Zanetti, editorial director of the musical information portal Rockol with a long experience behind him also in the recording sector, will present his volume “The (whitest) book of the Beatles” (Giunti editore), a precious guide to deepen the knowledge of all the Beatles songs officially published during their fabulous history, from 1962 to 1969 (plus the various appendices, including the volumes of “Anthology”, the anthologies of BBC tapes up to the last unreleased one in 2023). Together with him, Massimo Ferrarini, singer-songwriter and composer from Turin, will present the science fiction novel “Wave Zero – The secret archive of the Beatles” (Arcana ed.).

On Friday 12 June the Bellinzona Beatles Days will return to the historic Piazza del Sole with an evening of electronic pop-rock. The protagonists will be, starting from 9.00 pm, first the Re-count, a historic Ticino project headed by Omar Bernasconi from Lugano who has been riding the electronic wave for thirty years exploring contaminations between pop, rock, breakbeat, drum’n’bass, ambient, Goa, industrial.
This will be followed by a spectacular show by one of the first historic “space rock” bands, the French Rockets, famous for their “alien” look but also for their electronic reinterpretation of a Cannet Heat classic, “On The Road Again” and for other highly successful songs such as “Future Woman”, “Galactica”, “Electric Delight”.

On Saturday 13 June the Bellinzona Beatles Days will begin with their proposals already in the morning, in the city market, with a used record exhibition-market in Piazza Buffi enlivened by the notes of Nowhere Land. In the evening, then, back to Piazza del Sole where, after the live broadcast of the Switzerland-Canada football match on the big screen – the grand finale with the traditional and sumptuous Beatles show by the currently most famous tribute band in Europe, the Beat Box.

On both Friday and Saturday evenings the events in Piazza del Sole (where there will be an extensive gastronomic service) will be preceded by entertainment curated by DJ Kiko. Entrance is free. Details at www.beatlesday.ch
