Baskets, whistles and threats: the show on Elvis in London is a flop
Baskets, whistles and threats: the show on Elvis in London is a complete disaster. And instead of the ologram of the king of rock’n’roll, news that had attracted thousands of fans … the organizers place a cardboard on stage. All true.
“Elvis Evolution”, this is the title of the “immersive experience” dedicated to Elvis Presley, as well as the show hosted by the Excel Exhibition Center had been presented by the organizers, made his debut on 19 July and immediately proved bankruptcy, despite the high expectations of the fans. The advertisements affirmed that through a combination of artificial intelligence and holographic technology a digital hologram of Rockstar would be recreated starting from amateur movies and archival material. The creator of the show, Andrew McGuinne, had promised fans that the show would have been similar to that, triumphant of “Abba Voyage”, dedicated to the Swedish quartet: a real “time journey”.
The fans spent between 75 and 300 pounds for the shows of the show, immediately realizing that they have been scammed. Once they arrived in the room, in fact, they discovered that there was no hologram of the king of rock and that in his place there was instead a charter of Presley’s cardboard.
The British newspapers, starting from The Independent, report real popular riots to the Excel Exhibition Center, among whistles, people who have abandoned the room among the insults and also fights. The organizers denounced that a man was taken away by security after being “verbally aggressive” against the staff and after having defined the show “a nonsense”.
A petition was launched on social networks to ask the organizers for the reimbursement of tickets. At the moment “Elvis Evolution” continues to be scheduled at the Excel Exhibition Center, where it should be staged until December 28th.
