Apollo Brown and Philmore Green land in Italy again

More and more often, in recent years, rappers of international caliber are landing in Italy. The great producer Apollo Brown and rapper Philmore Greene, after performing at Biko in Milan, have announced a new date in our country: they will perform on June 16th at Villa Bombrini, in Genoa, on the occasion of the Zena Hip Hop Connection, the new event organized by Genova Hip Hop Festival and Duemilagrandieventi with free entry. Gates open from 6pm. Brown is a veteran producer from Detroitin his long and prolific career he has collaborated with various artists of the caliber of Ghostface Killah, Joell Ortiz, Planet Asia and many others with whom he has produced singles and even entire albums.

The Chicago MC who goes by the name of Philmore Greene is a highly respected rapper on the underground scene brought to prominence also and above all by his latest work in collaboration with Apollo. The album in question is titled “Cost Of Living”: released in 2022, it is an album with totally hip-hop flavours which takes up the canons of lyrical rap and with beats full of samples and drums that recall the old school, while at the same time giving an overall modern sound. “So many losses and not enough gains, but as long as we believe in something deeply to be able to have an opportunity that leads us to live better, hope never dies: this is rap music in the deepest sense, not as an aesthetic end in itself, but as a physical place of life”, said the two artists.

Opening their concert in Genoa will be Johnny Marsiglia, a rapper from Palermo born in '86 who will bring songs from his latest album “Gara 7”, inspired by the world of basketball. At the console, the Genoese DJ and producer, a reference name for Ligurian and national hip hop, Dj Kamo. The second evening of the Zena Hip Hop Connection, Friday 21 June, again from 6pm and always with free admission, will see local artists Ignoranza Urbana, HellsY, Fato Thor, Nosen and Trasgy, Krin ( ex DSA Commando), Spike and Principe. The evening will culminate with the performances of Kaos and DJ Craim, together again on stage for the Fastidio Tour 2024, 28 years after the release of the album “Fastidio”. Space also for other international guests: Masta Ace, rapper from Brooklyn and member of the legendary collective Juice Crewamong the American pioneers of hip hop in the mid-eighties, and others Marco Polo, Canadian beatmaker considered one of the most influential producers of the New York East Coast hip hop underground. Mr. Phil's DJ set closed the evening.
