Antonello Venditti and the Capitoline Wolf: “Make Rome great again”
And Antonello Venditti quoted Donald Trump.
From “Make America great again” to “Make Rome great again” it is a short step, or almost. The Roman singer-songwriter launched this slogan today, when in the Capitol he received the Capitoline Wolf from the hands of the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, the highest recognition that the city reserves for its most illustrious citizens with the merit of “having been the voice of Rome with his masterpieces”. During the ceremony Venditti played one of his songs from 1997, “I had a dream”, and said: “I love Rome in all its forms. I have a vocation that makes me love the city with its defects, we have arrived at love the potholes of Rome, they are part of our life, we make flowers grow there. I invite the Romans to respect it more, the Romans must give more. We want to make Rome great again. It is easy to love and hate it, if you are Roman. We can’t stand other people’s criticism. This is a much-loved city.”
