Another record for Mariah Carey’s Christmas song
This week, at the top of the Italian FIMI singles chart is Mariah Carey with “All I want for Christmas is you”. As well as in America, and it is a new record: it reached the 20th overall week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, setting an all-time record. “Humbly taking back the torch!! 20 weeks at #1. I’m so grateful,” the singer wrote on Instagram. The previous record of 19 weeks was set by Lil Nas
Carey also holds the record for staying at No. 1 in the pre-streaming era, with her collaboration with Boyz II Men “One Sweet Day” remaining at the top of the Hot 100 for 16 weeks between 1995 and 1996, as well as the most overall number of weeks at No. 1 in America with 99, followed by Rihanna with 60 and the Beatles. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was first released in 1994, but only hit the charts in the streaming era, reaching No. 1 for the first time in 2019
Immediately after the wedding, Mariah Carey will be busy with the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games: she is the first international guest of the opening ceremony, which will take place at the San Siro Stadium on February 6th.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held from 6 to 22 February between Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
