Annalisa and Dua Lipa: story of a (perhaps) forgotten job
For Annalisa the last two years have been extraordinary in terms of numbers and success. Just think that next March 6th the Ligurian singer-songwriter will land in Los Angeles in the company of artists of the caliber of Karol G, Ice Spice, Charli XCX and Kylie Minogueon the occasion of Billboard Women In Music, the annual event dedicated to most influential women of the music industry. It often happens that especially the media, in trying to define his music and his great climb, draw parallels, with all due proportions, with pop stars of an international level. Among the names that recur and pop up there is also that of Dua Lipa with whom, however, few people know that Annalisa has already collaborated: in 2016 she recorded a single that was written for her by Dua Lipa, it's about “Used To You”.
Both artists are under the Warner label, which is where the operation began. There is also a photo of the two together, which was published on Facebook by the voice of “Sincerely” with a caption that read now, eight years later, aware of the path Dua Lipa has taken, makes you smile: “During the making of 'If I had a heart' I met this girl, talented, beautiful, nice, with eyes that shine. From this human encounter a beautiful collaboration is then born, and I can't wait for you to hear what we have done together”. At that time the London singer of Kosovar origin was not yet known worldwide and Annalisa, speaking on Whoopsee, recalled that collaboration.
“Dua Lipa's song? Meanwhile it was a blow of…In 2016 she hadn't exploded yet, she had come to Italy and I remember that when I looked at her Instagram profile she had fewer followers than me. We were at these levels here. At the time she had only released 'Be The One'. I received a piece from him and the idea was to have it interpreted by me in English and have me adapt it in Italian. Which is what it was, very cool. She was very happy, really excited. I like to tell it because it is a beautiful memory for me too, far back in time. Shall we make an appeal? Dua, I don't know if you remember me, but way back in 2016 we met and did those little things… Maybe, who knows!”. The connection between the two, as well as real, has also been virtual several times: thanks to artificial intelligence several videos have gone viral, clip in which Annalisa sings “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa.
