An unreleased Bono song in the new Elvis Presley concert film

There is a surprise in “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert”, a concert film directed by Baz Luhrmann and its soundtrack: an (almost) unreleased by Bono, the singer of U2. Amid the performance recordings, updated mixes of celebrated live performances and new Presley remixes, is the first official release of “American David.” It is not a song, but a poem by Bono about Presley written some time ago and already appeared in various forms and performances over the years, as well as used as the basis for “Elvis Ate America” song contained in “Original Soundtracks 1” by Passengers, a “superband” created with Brian Eno in 1995. The one for “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” should be a new studio recording with music by Elliott Wheeler.
The soundtrack will be released on February 20th in digital and CD formats, coinciding with the film’s IMAX premiere. The double LP will be released on April 24th.

However, there is no news on the new U2 album: the latest news was at the end of 2025, which gave it almost as finished: the traditionally reliable website U2songs hypothesized a release for autumn 2026, anticipated by a single in the summer. Then a series of promotional appearances and then the announcement of a tour.
The only other news is that the band made Bono and The Edge’s performance public at the awards ceremony assigned by the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where a few months ago, in October they played some classics in acoustic versions: ‘Running to Stand Still’, ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, ‘One’, ‘Pride (In the Name of Love)’ and ‘Yahweh’. After having released the audio of the performance to various radio stations (including Virgin in Italy), it was recently uploaded to YouTube.
