Tomorrow, March 26, “People Have The Power: A Celebration of Patti Smith”, a tribute concert in honor of the legendary New York singer -songwriter will be held at the Carnegie Hall in New York. The event will see the participation of numerous artists who will pay homage to Patti Smith. Bruce Springsteen was also joined to the stellar cast.
Among the musicians already announced, Karen or, Michael Stipe, Kim Gordon, Flea and many others include. The artists will be accompanied by a House Band led by Tony Shanahan, a historic member of the band of the voice of “Dancing Barefoot” with the participation of the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Steve Jordan, drummer on tour with the Rolling Stones. According to what reported by “Consequence”, Springsteen will also be present at the tribute, although at the moment no further details have been revealed on his performance. It also remains uncertain if Patti Smith herself will make an apparition during the concert.
Other artists confirmed for the event, for charity and the proceeds of which will go to musical education programs for young people in difficulty, include Matt Beringer of The National, Courtney Barnett, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Ben Harper and the Kronos Quartet. Kim Gordon will perform together with his bandmate in Body/Head, Bill Nace.
For his part, Patti Smith will be engaged in a series of concerts in the coming months and will also return to perform in Italy: on 7 July he will be in Venice in Piazza San Marco and 10 October in Bergamo.
