“Alone” is the first song in the tracklist of the new album by The Cure
THE Care They will release their new album on November 1st “Songs of a Lost World” (pre-order here). This is the group’s 14th studio album and their first in 16 years.
Some songs from the album were sung live for the first time during their tour, “Shows of a Lost World”. The album’s first single, “Alone”was the opening track at each concert and is available on all digital platforms. The rest of the tracklist will be revealed in the coming weeks on the band’s social media profiles and official website.
On the first single – which is also the album’s opening track – the frontman Robert Smith He said: “It’s the song that unlocked the album; as soon as we recorded that song I knew it had to be the opening song and I felt the whole album come into focus.
For a while I was trying to find the right opening line for the right song to lead the way for the project, working on the concept of ‘being alone’, always with the nagging feeling of already knowing what the opening line should be. As soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem ‘Dregs’ by the English poet Ernest Dowson. And that was the moment I knew the song – and the album – had become something concrete”.
“Songs of a Lost World” It was written and arranged by Robert Smithproduced and mixed by Robert Smith & Paul Corkett and sung by Care – Robert Smith: Voice / guitar / bass / keyboards, Simon Gallup: low, Jason Cooper: drums / percussion, Roger O’Donnell: keyboard, Reeves Gabrels: guitar. The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales.
Robert Smith created the concept and Andy Vellahistorical collaborator of the Caretook care of the design and the visual part. The cover portrays a 1975 sculpture by Janes Pirnat, “Bagatelle”.
“Songs of a Lost World” is available for pre-order in physical format and will be released in Italy in the following formats: CD, LP, CD + Blu-Ray. The Double Black LP mastered in half-speed and the cassette will be available exclusively on the Universal Music Italia store. A marble-colored LP will be available exclusively for Feltrinelli.
