Alice Cooper, his daughter and Slash together in a song for children
Alice Cooper, his daughter Calico and Slash have joined forces on a new children’s song. The song is titled “Freewheelin’” and is taken from the album “Solid rock revival” nominated for a Grammy in the “Best children’s music album” category.
In the single Alice and her daughter, born in 1981, sing about the joy of riding a motorcycle, while the Guns N’ Roses guitarist leaves his touch in the guitar parts. “I’m freewheelin’ on my new bike / It’s the best thing that I like / Now you’re freewheelin’ riding by yourself / Pedaling faster without any help,” reads a passage of the song, now accompanied by the animated video below :
The album that includes “Freewheelin’,” released on August 30, is made by the Rock for Children collective, composed of Alice Cooper and his daughter, as well as Sharon Aguilar-Kamide, Dana Kamide, Ms. Meka Nism, Recker Eans, Conrad Varela, John David Williams and Rubén Salas. “Solid Rock Revival” features the likes of Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Daryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC and more Proceeds from the album benefit Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers, a nonprofit organization that offers free classes in music, dance, art and more for teens ages 12 to 20.
Speaking about the Grammy nomination with the Arizona Republic, Alice said: “Wouldn’t it be the craziest thing for Alice Cooper to get a Grammy for children’s music?”
