Aerosmith’s Farewell Tour Ends After 3 Dates: “Steven Is Sick”
Aerosmith’s farewell tour has been officially canceled, after just three shows. The live career of the American band of “I don’t want to miss a thing” ends with a press release through which the members of the group announce that they will not be able to resume the tour that started on September 2nd in Philadelphia and that after the shows in Pittsburgh and Elmont had been put on hold due to Steven Tyler’s health problems, struggling with a serious lesion to his vocal cords. Despite the attempts made by the doctors, Tyler will never sing like before: “We always wanted to drive you crazy when we perform.
And as you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He spent months working tirelessly to get his voice back to where it was before his injury. We watched him struggle despite having the best medical team at his side. Sadly, it’s now clear that a full recovery is not possible.” And so Aerosmith’s life on the road ends.
“We have had to make a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision. We are retiring from touring. It has been an honor in our lives to watch our music become a part of yours. In every club, on every big tour, and in grand and private moments, you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives,” the group’s press release reads.
Just a few days ago, guitarist Joe Perry had kept fans’ hopes alive that they might soon hear new Aerosmith music: “I’m writing some material for the new Hollywood Vampires record right now. But that’s a whole other thing. As far as Aerosmith, I don’t know. We’ll see. There’s definitely a possibility, but right now we’re thinking about the tour setlist and what songs we can play,” he said.
