Adriano Celentano guest of Sanremo 2026: Rai’s proposal
Rai’s replica of the open letter shared today by Claudia Mori, addressed to the CEO of Viale Mazzini Giampini Rossi, was not long in coming to arrive, regarding a possible return of her husband Adriano Celentano on TV, after meetings following – according to what reported by Mori – the company would no longer have been made to the artist.
In a note released by the Rai press office, Rossi has opened up to a return of the soft, 88 years old next January, on TV. Not only that: he invited Celentano to return to the Sanremo Festival, as a guest. Here is the full text of the note:
Adriano Celentano is a piece of the history of Italian popular culture; It is a story of our nation also in the world. For us it would be a dream to see him again in Rai. For this reason, the solicitation of Mrs. Claudia Mori do it ours, with the idea of building a great tribute with him, a special evening on Rai 1.
We do not settle for the archive repertoire only, as we are proposed by Mrs. Mori, but we want to return to the height of her legend because it becomes a moment of celebration for all the Italian public. And if Adriano wants, we will welcome him with open arms also in the next Sanremo Festival.
The last appearance of Celentano in Sanremo dates back to 2012, when the sprinkled accepted the invitation of his friend Gianni Morandi, conductor of that edition of the event.
The last television experience of Adriano Celentano, who made the history (also) of the small screen with programs such as “Fantastic” (1987-88), “Svalutation” (1992, Rai3), “Frankly I don’t care” (1999, Rai1), “Rockpipolitik” (2005, Rai1) and “Rock Economy” (2012, Canale 5), is “Adrian”, the animated series of 2019. On Canale 5 it was first suspended “for a seasonal ailment” of the artist – the spectators rushed from the almost 6 million of the first episode to the not even 3 of the fourth – and later completed at the end of that same year.
