Adam Clayton has announced his divorce
Adam Clayton announced that he and his wife, the lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalhothey “amicably” divorced after over 10 years of marriage.
The two, as reported by a spokesperson for the couple, will continue to have joint custody of their six-year-old daughter Alba. Clayton is also the father of a son from a previous relationship.
The couple met in de Carvalho's home country of Brazil and married in September 2013 in Dublin after four years of living together. That in the Irish city was followed by a second ceremony in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, near Cannes, at which Clayton's U2 bandmates were present: Bono, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr..
In 2017, the couple announced the birth of their daughter with a notice on The Irish Times: “Adam and Mariana Clayton are pleased to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba.”
Before getting married, the U2 bassist was briefly engaged to the top model Naomi Campbell in 1994. He was also engaged to Suzie Smith, former assistant to U2 manager Paul McGuinness, in 2006 before they separated the following year.
