A tribute to Paolo Benvegnù will open the Men/Go Fest in Arezzo

Tuesday 8 July, to inaugurate there 21th edition of the Arezzo event Men/Go Music Fest, There will be a special evening entitled “Let’s touch each other”, An event dedicated to memory by Paolo Benvegnù.

The artistic direction and organization of the evening are curated by Luca Roccia Baldini, workshops of culture and benvegnu, with the support of Woodworm.

Paolo Benvegnù prematurely disappeared last December 31, at 59 years old, for a sudden heart attack. His death deeply hit the public and the music scene, demonstrating how deep (and still) his human and artistic weight was.

In 1993 Paolo is among the founders of the schism, a significant group of alternative rock originally from Lake Garda. With the schism he recorded three albums, also winning the Ciampi prize in 1998. After the dissolution of the band in 2000 he moved to Florence, where he collaborated with several artists and participates in theatrical projects.

His solo debut takes place in 2004 with the single “Suggestionable” and surprises with the album “Little fragile movies“, who receives a positive welcome from both the public and critics. This work marks a turning point in his musical style, characterizing himself by a more intimate and refined songwriting. After a long tour he continues to work in the theater and publishes an EP in 2005,” rims in the water “.

In 2007, he released a new EP and the album “Lips“. In 2008, he collaborated with Marco Parente in the” Good bullets “project and participates in a compilation to promote the Italian Indie Rock scene. In 2009, he published the EP” 500 “and the live” Dissoll “, while several artists reinterpret his songs, including Mina and Giusy Ferreri.

In 2011, you publish “Hermann“((Read Review), an important album that receives significant awards, including Pimi as the best soloist of the year. In 2014 he released the album “Earth Hotel“((Read Review). In 2018, together with the writer Nicholas Ciuferri, he founded the project “The stories of the mists”, which combines narrative and music.

Shortly before the disappearance Paolo was going through a period of great creativity and reached the fruits of the years spent writing and playing music. Very sensible person Paolo had experienced great economic and psychological difficulties but had always kept a great lucidity of thought and above all a great human strength that is still recognized to him and who leaves, in all those who met him, a great and indelible memory.
