A superstar from Puerto Rico: Ricky Martin
If Latin pop has a king, it is undoubtedly Ricky Martin. In a forty-year career, he started doing things seriously way back in 1984 with the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, then abandoned in 1989 to pursue a solo career. The Puerto Rican singer managed to gain the title of monarch of the genre thanks to a flurry of hits that made people dance and have fun not only in South America, but also in the United States and on this side of the Atlantic.
Thirty years have passed since the time of “María” and Ricky Martin is no longer what he calls himself a kid: in fact today he turns 53. We wish him our best wishes by retracing his story with some hits from his repertoire.
