A posthumous album by Alan Vega, the founder of Sucide, is coming out
The publication of “Insurrection”, a new collection of unreleased material from the deceased Alan Vegaco-founder of Suicide.
The 11-song record will be released on May 31 and includes the single “Mercy “, out today. The song comes accompanied by a music video directed by Douglas Hart of the Jesus and Mary Chainfeaturing models Mateen Ismail and Helena Gawrzyalska.
“To emphasize the song's powerful rhythms, the video loops and repeats simple movements, such as repeatedly opening and closing doors,” Hart said. “The textures of the music are illustrated using both black and white and intense colors.”
After Vega's death in 2016, his friends and collaborators began assembling his remaining unreleased material, some of which was released on the independent label Sacred Bones. “Mutator” released in 2021 featured works created between 1996 and 1998 with his wife and frequent collaborator Liz Lamere.
