A new album by Liberato is out (Calcutta and Mahmood are on it)
There is a new album by Liberato. It is titled “Radio Liberato” and was released on streaming platforms at the stroke of midnight on May 9th. Not a random day, for Liberato’s universe: since the release of “Nove maggio”, the song that in 2017 allowed the mysterious Neapolitan singer to gain the attention of the public and critics, the date of May 9th has become central in the artist’s imagination. Liberato launched the album by breaking into the Rai Radio2 studios in via Asiago, in Rome: the artist hoisted the flag with his symbol, the rose, on the roof of the radio headquarters, and pretended to hack the broadcaster’s system, broadcasting his own songs. The album contains 15 tracks: there are unreleased songs, versions of his songs performed by Calcutta (“Me staje appennenn’ amò”), Mahmood (“Intostreet”) and Iosonouncane (“Gaiola”). There is also a cover of the song “Trap queen” by Fetty Wap (“Napoli Queen”) and an intervention by Stefano De Martino, who in the intro (“Intro”) and outro (“Vuje me facite ascì pazz’ / Finale”) pretends to be the host of the imaginary “Radio Liberato”. At this point the question arises spontaneously: will we see him competing in Sanremo 2027? It would objectively be a coup. For everyone.
“Radio Liberato” arrives two years after “Liberato III” and is the fourth work of the mysterious artist of “Nove Maggio”. In addition to the guests already mentioned, there are also speeches by Maria Esposito (the Neapolitan actress made popular by “Mare Fuori”, who reads “Alexander the Great”), Alberto Angela (who lends her voice to “Sibilla”), Serena Rossi, Valerio Lundini and Stash from The Kolors.
On June 5th the musician will perform for the first time in his career at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples.
