Roger Taylor, his seventh solo album is out

It will be published on September 18th “Insane violence in a beautiful world” the new album by Roger Taylorthe drummer of Queen. The album is available on blue vinyl, black vinyl, picture disc and CD. “Insane violence in a beautiful world” it is the seventh album of Roger’s solo career, which began in 1977, and comes five years after the previous one “Outsider” (read the review here), released in 2021.

Even though it is not a concept album, the album still has a common thread, as explained by himself Roger Taylor: “There’s a theme, it’s in the title: how beautiful the world we live in, don’t ruin it. There seems to be some kind of madness at the moment. The violence in the world seems as bad as it has ever been, in any era, and certainly in my lifetime. It’s horrible, a great deal of senseless violence. And it really seems like we’re ruining the world: plastic in the seas, and all these terrible wars everywhere and the hatred generated by different religions.” However, the tone of the album does not abandon hope: “It’s a beautiful world. And kindness is very important, even if it seems to be forgotten very often. That’s the underlying theme.”

The album is preceded by the single “Come on summer (It’s party time)”which sees the participation of Ndlovu Youth Choir of Limpopo, South Africa, which became internationally famous thanks to its Zulu version of “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Roger wrote – with the exception of the cover of “Jealous guy” Of John Lennonwhich he judges to be “one of the greatest ballads ever written” -, produced, sang and performed all the songs on the album, with the help of his historic collaborator Joshua J. Macraemembers of his live band and, on three tracks, the Ndlovu Youth Choir of Limpopo. Talking about their contribution, Taylor says: “I was really happy when I learned about this incredible South African choir, who sing in Zulu. They’re just wonderful. They did the cover of ‘Bohemian rhapsody’, and it’s fantastic. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. So we had the brilliant idea of asking them to sing on some songs and I think they transformed those songs. They give it a whole new dimension. I’m really excited about their work on this.”
