“Adjourn it” is the new incendiary song by Tom Morello
Tom Morello has released a new single titled “Adjourn it”together with his son Roman Morello and the frontman of System of a Down Serj Tankian. The single anticipates the release of his next solo album inspired by the recent street protests against ICE in Minneapolis and New York.
In the video that accompanies the notes of “Adjourn it” you can see the images of the three musicians busy in the recording room alternating with clips taken from the 1954 independent film “Salt of the Earth”which chronicles the strikes of Mexican-American zinc miners, is very much in line with the direct and highly political tone of the song.
Tom Morello
regarding the song he stated: “In this moment in history, every artistic act is an act of resistance and ‘Adjourn it’, a collaboration with my old friend Serj Tankian and my 15-year-old son, guitar prodigy Roman Morello, is a rallying cry for justice in unjust times. Produced by Zakk Cervini, this latest song from my upcoming solo album combines the Morello family’s rousing riffs, passed down from generation to generation, with prophetic laments by the great Serj Tankian. Inspired by the persecution of immigrants across the country and the heroic resistance to the advance of fascism, the time has come to unleash for freedom, justice and equality.”
Serj Tankian
further added, “‘Adjourn It’ is an anthem of protest against the continued barbarism perpetrated by ICE in the United States, which separates families, practices racial profiling, and in some cases, kills. As a democracy, we should be offended that our own government has done this to our brothers and sisters trying to provide a dignified life for their families. There is smart immigration and naturalization policy, and then there is this. Most of these cases would archived by the judges if due process was respected. Archive it!
