Jorja Smit opens a new phase of her artistic journey

Jorja Smith returns with “What’s Done Is Done”. The song represents the first step of a new artistic phase for one of the most recognizable and influential voices on the contemporary British scene. Published together with the official video clip directed by historical collaborator KC Locke, the song marks a return built around a balance between sonic essentiality, emotional intensity and greater expressive awareness. There is production P2JLondon producer already known for his work with artists on the UK and international scene, who here accompanies Jorja’s voice with a sound system made of subtle percussion, electronic atmospheres and soul references.

“What’s Done Is Done” deals with the theme of closure and acceptancetelling the moment in which you choose to leave behind what can no longer be changed. The song moves between pain, clarity and the desire to regain control of one’s life, maintaining that emotional honesty that has characterized Jorja Smith’s writing from the beginning. While staying true to its warm musical identity, the single also introduces an almost exotic electronic sonic direction. The voice remains central, the production context avoids excesses, leaving room for a story that focuses more on rhythm than on immediate, timbral and vocal impact.

The video clip also develops this same narrative approach, more energetic. Directed by KC Locke, it takes the viewer through a long night of raves and block partiesmeetings with friends, moments spent on the city rooftops and solitary journeys on night vehicles. The video alternates collective scenes and more introspective fragments, building a visual story that reflects the contrast between the weight of sentimental memories and the need to let go of the present. Making the project even more personal is the presence, in the video clip, of the artist’s friends, family and real collaborators from different areas of the United Kingdom. They include AJ Tracey, Knucks, Novelist, Nadia Rose, Wohdee, Specs Gonzales, Remi Burgz, Manchester dance collective Trend Kids and the Blue Lights Choir.

The release of the single comes at a significant moment in the singer’s career, which this year celebrates ten years of “Blue Lights”the song that made her known to the general public and which marked the beginning of her rise in British music. Jorja Smith has also been featured in several major projects in recent months, including performing on the inaugural season of Saturday Night Live UKparticipation in the soundtrack of Riz Ahmed’s “Bait” series with the song “Price Of It All” and the announcement of his presence as co-headliner of All Points East, scheduled for August 21st at Victoria Park together with Tems.
