Have Greta Van Fleet broken up?
“Thanks for the wild ride”, “Thank you for this incredible journey”: this is the message that accompanies the latest post shared by Greta Van Fleet on their official social channels. Cryptically, the note comes with a video and signed by the four members of the group, Josh, Jake, Sam and Daniel. Fans immediately assumed that the band is about to announce its dissolution.
The 51-second clip features live and studio footage of Greta Van Fleet over the years, and concludes with a final screen featuring the same message. “If you guys are breaking up, then I’ve lost all faith in humanity,” one fan’s comment summed up the general sentiment, while another wrote: “Just saw the news of the breakup. It’s been a wild ride indeed. Let’s hope for a reunion in the future after some time!” As often happens in these cases, even the English Wikipedia page dedicated to the group has changed a series of times, initially changing the incipt to “Greta Van Fleet were a band”, and then back to the present.
However, other more hopeful and positive fans they pointed out that the last piece of music featured in the newly released video appears to be something familiar, leading them to believe the announcement is actually a teaser for new material rather than a harbinger of dissolution.
The public therefore awaits updates from the band, which has stopped performing live activities since September 2024. The last studio album by Greta Van Fleet is instead from 2023, when the third studio work was released “Starcatcher“. Since then, guitarist Jake Kiszka has spent much of his time working with his side project Miradorabout to release an EP on June 19th, while bassist Sam Kiszka and drummer Danny Wagner both appear in “The Dreamin’ Kind”, the recent album by the American singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim.
