Singing the future. Meetings of words and music, in Trieste
What form will tomorrow’s song take? From this question was born “Singing the future”, a series of meetings that crosses eras, languages and transformations of contemporary music, bringing tradition and innovation into dialogue, and will be held at 5.30 pm in the Forum Space of the LETS Museum, Piazza Hortis 4, Trieste
The first appointment, Monday 4 May, “Bob Dylan and the never-ending tale”, with Maurizio Bettelli, takes you into the heart of songwriting: a journey between music and literature, in which Dylan becomes the symbol of a narrative form capable of spanning generations.
Bettelli is an author, composer, translator and teacher of creative writing. He wrote songs for Nomadi, collaborated with RAI Radio 3 and taught at the Holden School in Turin. In 2008 he edited “The Songs of Woody Guthrie” for Feltrinelli, the first critical anthology dedicated to the father of American popular song.
The second meeting, Tuesday 12 May, “The end of the story and electronic music”, with Alessandro Sbordoni (musician and scholar of music and digital culture), explores the new digital frontiers, expressive forms that abandon traditional narration.
The cycle ends on Tuesday 19 May with “The routes of tomorrow”, a dialogue between Maurizio Bettelli and Alessandro Sbordoni who will reflect on the prospects of the music of the future.
The initiative is part of the Reading Workshop, a project of the Municipality of Trieste as part of the Reading Pact, created with the financing of CEPELL – Center for Books and Reading.
Free entry while seats last.
