Renzo Rubino: “Porto Rubino has a new formula and renewed energy”
It returns to sail the coasts of Puglia Porto Rubinothe musical journey created and directed by Renzo Rubino which has reached, with this year’s event, its eighth edition. A journey made up of concerts and more, with a different formula from previous editions, as the Apulian musician explained in the press conference presenting the event held at Milan dock: “Porto Rubino has always gone well, but in recent years it seemed to be a bit tired. So I renewed my commitment and changed the formula, distorting the idea of the festival and giving the evenings a theme, since in a sea port you can find a bit of everything. Then, those who will liven up the festival will not be hosted, but real concerts. There will be fewer artists to whom we will give more time to express themselves: we will start earlier, we will finish later.”
The first port of call on this voyage is scheduled for July 14th in Taranto with Porto Rubino Pensaan evening dedicated to words and thoughts, where music meets story. They will take turns on stage Angelica Bove, Carmen Consoli and the journalist Concita De Gregorio together with Erica Mou.
Two days later, on July 16, a Savelletri, Porto Rubino Balla will be stagedthe most nocturnal and pulsating stage of the festival, in the name of electronics, which will have as its protagonists Acid Arab, Dardust, Frenetik And Jolly Marefor a night in which club culture and Mediterranean suggestions will shake hands. Speaking about the Savelletri date, Rubino takes a pebble off his shoe and explains how until twelve days ago the appointment was set in another location, in Monopoli. Then, once things were done, a meeting with the municipal representatives to define purely technical issues led to everything being turned upside down since the billboard was not in keeping with the wishes of the council of the Apulian town. Fortunately everything was resolved quickly and for the best as Savelletri said it was happy to be able to host the festival.
The last stage of this new edition of the Apulian festival will take place on July 18th Otranto with Porto Rubino Canta. They will be taking the stage for a singer-songwriter evening Ditonellapiaga, Nico Arezzo, Vale LP And Venus.
The dream of Renzo Rubino is to make Porto Rubino land in Milan, in the Darsena itself, in a hopefully not too distant future. As well as Porto Rubino the 38-year-old singer-songwriter from Puglia was asked when he will return to release a new album. Rubino doesn’t hold back and replies: “It will be my most important album, I’ve been working on it for eight years. If everything goes as it should, the album will be released in 2027.”
In the press release with understandable pride Renzo Rubino speaks and presents this year’s event like this: “Porto Rubino, year after year, has become a certainty among Apulian festivals, an event that continues to grow while remaining faithful to its freer and more nomadic nature. This edition has a particular value for me: it is the result of a path that has led us to refocus on the route, to rethink some choices and to return with even more conviction to the essence of the project. This year each artist will go on stage with their own concert, with complete sets, because we felt the need to give more space to music, to make it really breathe. At the same time, Porto Rubino continues to expand: not only live, but also moments of meeting, words, stories, openings towards other languages and forms, such as talks. It is an edition that tells of a new energy, a different awareness.
Tickets will be available from May on the circuit Vivaticket And Renzo Rubino ensures that ticket prices will be within everyone’s budget.
