Michael Jackson’s iconic white glove up for auction

One of the most indelible symbols in pop history is about to change hands. In California, the iconic crystal-encrusted white glove belonged to Michael Jackson is officially on sale. The starting price has been set at $50,000but the auction house’s experts predict that the raises can easily go up to this level 100,000.

The heirloom boasts a fascinating provenance: in 1984, the King of Pop decided to gift it to Paul Bedardhis trusted artist. The gift was a sign of gratitude for a painting made in Neverland, in which Bedard had portrayed Jackson together with other entertainment legends, all united by the detail of the white glove on his hand.

It is not a simple accessory, but an object designed for the scene. Laura Kirkmanager at Nate D. Sanders Auctions, explained the technical characteristics of the piece to “Reuters”:

The glove is made entirely of crystals and is incredibly iridescent. It was made to capture the light; it was created specifically to be iridescent and in person it is truly splendid.

While California awaits the highest bidder, another twin glove is currently up for auction in Francewith a rating ranging between 100,000 and 150,000 euros. The rarity of these pieces is absolute: Jackson had an extremely limited number produced and seeing one on the market is a more unique than rare event.

Collectors have until Thursday 30 April to win this piece of music history.
