Justin Vernon transforms into Bon Dylan
Next summer, Eaux Clairesthe music festival co-founded by Justin Vernonleader of the Good Ivertogether with Aaron Dessner of the Nationalwill return to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Vernon’s hometown. It will be the first edition of Eaux Claires since 2018. Earlier this year, Justin Vernon had revealed the festival lineup, which includes names such as Aimee Mann, Daniel Caesar, Dijon, Lil Yachty, Kevin Morby And Good Dylan. Now Justin Vernon he explained what it is “Good Dylan”.
When the lineup was announced, it was thought that Good Dylan it could be Bob Dylan who performed with i Good Iver. It’s not like that. Will be Justin Vernon who will perform as the Bob Dylan from 1994. This will, by the way, be the only performance Vernon has scheduled for 2026.
Vernon posted a video talking about his set for Good Dylanwith a version of in the background “Not Dark Yet”the song by Bob Dylan taken from “Time Out Of Mind” (read the review here). Justin Vernon and his band recorded it during a rehearsal of Good Dylan in March. In that Instagram clip, Vernon, who recently said he would be “very surprised” if he ever made another album by Good Ivershares this somewhat cryptic statement: “Oh, it was about a year ago. Bob Dylan passed through here. I went with my dad and about 16 of my friends. I’ve lived here 44 years. And it’s been too long to remember the last time the city felt this united. So we thought we’d better get the festival going again. Then the question arose whether Bon Iver should play or not. It was on the table. Here’s what I’ll say. I didn’t feel very good about it. I’m in tune with who I was. Or who I was seen as. Or who I wanted to be. So I thought it would be nice to try to be Bob Dylan for a night.
