ABBA, a documentary about their story
“Abba – 50 years of music” is a documentary in two episodes, premiering on Sky Arte tonight 22 April at 9.15pm, streaming only on NOW and available on demand, which tells the story of the Swedish group, from their victory at the 1974 Eurovision with “Waterloo”, up to the end of their artistic journey which made them one of the most influential pop groups of the 1970s.
Told in their own words and with archive material, the film traces their journey to chart domination in Europe, Australia and the UK, as well as their challenge to conquer America. From their debut to today, ABBA have sold 400 million albums worldwide, and in 2010 they were admitted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.
The first episode of the film begins with ABBA at Eurovision and continues until they conquer the European charts.
The second episode follows the career evolution of the Swedish quartet – Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad – up to “The winner takes it all”.
