Totonellapiaga, what happens if the album title changes

“We are waiting to find out if my new album can really be titled ‘Miss Italia'”: this is how Ditonellapiaga opened the press conference to present her album third study workout tomorrow – April 10th. Since the announcement of the album, given on the occasion of the singer-songwriter’s return competing in Sanremo with the song “How annoying!“, the title immediately attracted the attention of the famous man beauty contest tricolor, which has disputed the use of the denomination for the album and a song on it.

According to the competition, the text of the song contains expressions and evaluations considered potentially harmful to the dignity and honor of the contestants. The dispute then led to an appealfor which it was held yesterday – 8 April – a hearing at the Court of Rome. There is no certainty as to when a ruling might arrive: if the judge rules in favor of Miss Italia, the copies already sent to the fans who had pre-ordered the album will remain as they are, for the rest the album will be withdrawn from the market and printed with another title.
The title “Miss Italy” had also been used in the past by Patti Pravo and Jack Savoretti. “At this moment I don’t know if my album can continue to be called ‘Miss Italia'”, explains Ditonellapiaga in the press conference:

“Obviously I care a lot about this title, because for me it is linked to my artistic freedom of expression and the possibility of telling a personal issue, referring to a universal image, which has now entered our collective imagination. Then, however, we will see what the judge decides: fingers crossed, we will only find out by living.”.

Here is our interview with Ditonellapiaga: Margherita Carducci, born in 1997, said: “The song that gives the album its title is centralbecause it tells precisely about the comparison with the canons. ‘Miss Italy’ represents the figure of the winning womanthe most beautiful, the one who embodies an ideal. I, however, I have always felt inadequate compared to those modelsnot so much from an aesthetic point of view, but from a social point of view. And this especially concerns my way of making music: often feeling out of place, out of place, as if I never quite correspond to what is expected.”

Then referring to the personal and artistic crisis that preceded his return to Sanremo and the new album, Ditonellapiaga subsequently adds: “This album, for me, is a comparison with myself: a path of acceptance of some moments of difficulty that I tried to overcome through writing, between crisis and confusion, especially linked to my career. It’s a record deeply focused on the relationship with myselfbut at the same time closely connected to my work”.
