Roger Waters seeks a voice for Pink Floyd’s legacy
Roger Waters returns to be talked about with an initiative that is as curious as it is significant: a real “open call” to find a singer to lead his son Harry Waters’ band on a Pink Floyd tribute tour. The project is titled “Roger Waters Presents LEGACY – A Pink Floyd Show Performed by the Harry Waters Band”, with the subtitle “The Father’s Legacy, the Son’s Band”, and aims to celebrate the golden era of the historic English educationas well as some forays into Waters’ solo career.
“Harry’s band is missing one thing: the voice I had when I was young”, declared Waters, underlining the need for an interpreter capable of ranging between the different nuances of his repertoire. From the delicate tones of “Comfortably Numb” to the more intense and theatrical parts of “Don’t Leave Me Now”the ideal candidate will have to deal with one of the most iconic vocal legacies in the history of rock. Auditions are open until April 30th and they represent a concrete opportunity to enter an international project which, at least in intention, promises a show “full of classics for every generation”. At the moment the tour dates have not been announced, scheduled for 2027. In addition to Harry Waters on keyboards, the presence of drummer Graham Broad has already been confirmed in the band. The family background is also curious: after some past friction, which had led Harry to collaborate with Brit Floyd, father and son seem to have found common ground precisely in the name of music and memory.
