Salmo and the video of “Eclipse”: “AI will be part of normality”
To celebrate ten years since the release of “Hellvisback“, Salmo published yesterday, April 3, a special edition of the album originally released in 2016 with a new artworkThree unpublished and aexclusive interview. The publication, called “Hellvisback 10 years later” (read more here) and arrived in stores for Sony Music Italy, was entirely produced by the rapper himself. Of the three new songs included in the re-release of the album, after “10 AD” and “Crackers”, the single “Eclipse“, released together with a video clip.
The video of the unreleased song revealed at the same time as the publication of “Hellvisback 10 years later” was directed by Luca Scalia and produced with the use of artificial intelligence, with the figure of a at the center Elvis Presley damned and in a zombie version, returned from the underworld. Regarding the use of AI in the creation of the clip, Salmo shared a message with his audience via social media.
“I see you’re liking the new song, I like it very well too. ‘Eclipse’ is the type of song I’ve dreamed of doing for a long time. It doesn’t matter if it’s not a rap song, I need to get out of my comfort zone to understand how far I can go”: this is how the post published by the rapper on his Instagram profile begins, who then wrote about the video for “Eclipse”:
“Regarding the video made with AI: I admit, initially I was against it. But there is infinite potential behind artificial intelligence, you just need to understand how to use it. It is simply a tool that allows you to finalize your ideas in a short time, it also allows you to save a lot of money. To make that type of video I would certainly have spent 150 thousand euros, plus 3 months of post production, VFX etc… For what? To show it to a few people.
Let’s face it, no one gives a damn about music video clips anymore.
Personally, I will continue to make real video clips the old fashioned way, but I am aware that artificial intelligence will be part of the norm.”
