Tiziano Ferro and Giorgia sing an unreleased song together
After announcing the deluxe version of “I’m great” which will be released on May 22ndTiziano Ferro reveals one of the 5 collaborations contained in the album: an unreleased duet with Giorgia. The song, entitled “Superstar”, will be available from tomorrow, March 3, in all digital stores. Tiziano and Giorgia have long been linked by a relationship of friendship and mutual respect, both human and artistic, but over the years they had never managed to align their respective careers and collaborate on an unreleased song (they found themselves singing a version of Ferro’s “Il Conforto” together in 2018). Now this bond has also resulted in music, giving life to “Superstar”, a song co-written by Ferro and Giorgia.
“Superstar – says Tiziano – was born from an exchange of text and audio messages between me and Giorgia. They talked about life, our lives but not only and the desire and need that everyone has to feel good. For me, as always, writing is a necessity and it was so in this case too. From our conversations a verse and an aside were born and when I sent them to Giorgia she immediately responded by sending me her part, words that devastated me, I’m honest, because I realized that she had taken my provocation and taken it 5 levels further, digging even deeper. The result is a song that may seem cryptic but which actually has very clear lyrics, lyrics that tell of the highs and the lows of the music world, the songs, the records, the live performances, the great successes but also the moments of difficulty and the need to have a clear understanding of who we are beyond the stage, the applause and the fame.”
Speaking about the relationship with Ferro, Giorgia said: “Tiziano and I often find ourselves talking at night, to try to fit together our different time zones. We have a very sincere and open dialogue, because first of all we love each other, for about 25 years now, if we have done the calculations correctly!”. The Roman artist gives the song an even broader reading: “After one of our conversations, Tiziano instinctively jotted down the idea behind ‘Superstar’ and asked me to try to write something. The concept is that Superstar can be anyone, you don’t need to have a particular job, because being a superstar lies in emotions and affections. He is someone who gives and doesn’t always receive in return. From this idea of his, it was easy for me to get inspired to write. The result is a song in which we feel at ease, in which we were able to embrace and have fun, hoping that the audience will do the same.”
From a musical point of view, it was a short step from the first auditions recorded in Los Angeles with Marco Sonzini to the final song then performed by Zefconfirming a team that has already brought success to the songs that marked the path of Ferro’s latest album: “Broken Heart”, “I Pretend & Push” and “I’m Great”.
