Rolling Stones, mysterious posters in London: announcement coming soon
The Rolling Stones are about to make an announcement regarding new music or a return to the stage. The newspapers across the Channel are sure of it. Mick Jagger and his associates have a hand behind the mysterious posters that have appeared in London in recent hours, which simply feature the words “The Cockroaches” and a QR Code. By scanning the latter, you are redirected to a site, thecockroaches.com. On the page, a photo of a 1970s room appears: there is a rotary telephone, some vinyl records (including that of “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” by David Bowie), concert tickets, a poster and a clock with an appointment for next April 11th. If you click on “Sign up”, the page displays the words «who the hell are the Cockroaches?» and invites fans to sign up for updates.
As highlighted by journalist and television host Matt Everitt, the name of The Cockroaches seems to refer to a pseudonym that the Rolling Stones adopted in the past. In fact, in the early ’80s, Jagger and his associates performed in a secret concert under the name “Blue Sunday And The Cockroaches”.
Another clue would be found in the writing «Who the hell are the Cockroaches?” which appears by clicking on “Sign up” on the website of the mysterious Cockroaches: the text is similar to that of an old and famous photo of Keith Richards in which the latter is wearing a t-shirt with the words “Who the hell is Mick Jagger?”.
When you sign up for updates, you will be sent a confirmation email from Universal Music, the same record label that represents the Rolling Stones.
In addition to the early ’80s concert, as reported by the New Musical Express, Jagger and company have used the alias The Cockroaches in the past, usually for occasional secret performances or impromptu warm-up concerts over the years.
In recent days, as reported by Rockol, Kharmel Cochrane’s agency in London opened casting calls for the filming of the official video clip of the song which according to rumors will pave the way for the release of the Stones’ new album. Filming was scheduled in the British capital on March 30 and 31. On the poster, which featured the unmistakable Rolling Stones’ tongue, there were also rumors about the mood of the song: «Imagine: old-fashioned blues souls, punk kids, old school rockers, Northern Soul dancers, streetwear, glam rock looks, real bands, DIY chaos».
