Goodbye to Gianfranco Caliendo, singer of Il Giardino dei Semplici
He died at the age of 70 Gianfranco Caliendoformer frontman of The Garden of the Simple, band founded in Naples in 1974 with Gianni Averardi, Andrea Arcella And Luciano Liguori.
The news of his death was given by his son Tiziano with affectionate words: “Hello, dad. The most beautiful concert awaits you. It will be wonderful. It will be perfect. The stage is yours. And there will be an infinite audience to applaud you. You, for me, will relive every time your voice and your music plays. I love you, Capellone. The funeral will be held on April 1st, at 5pm, at the church of Sant’Antonio in Fuorigrotta (Via Deocleziano 135).”
The group’s first success came in 1975 with the song “I fell in love” which reached seventh place in the sales charts. In 1977 the band participated in the Sanremo festival with the song “Honey”. Among the best-known songs of The Garden of the Simples they can be cited “You, ca nun chiagne”, “Go” And “… And let’s love each other”.
In 2012 Caliendo left the band to pursue a solo career. A few years ago he published his autobiography, “Memoirs of a long hair” (read the review here).
