Courtney Love once left her daughter with Joe Strummer and disappeared

The former drummer of Damned, Rat Scabiesin an interview given to the podcast Messy Lunchtold a rather not-so-uplifting story about the quality of parenting of Courtney Love. Or that he would have abandoned his daughter Frances Bean Cobain entrusting it to him and to Joe Strummerthe singer of Clashfor a few days.

This incident occurred while he and Strummer were working at a recording studio in Los Angeles and staying at the Mondrian Hotel of the Californian city. Here’s the story of the 70-year-old British musician: “I met Courtney once. She dumped the baby on me and Joe Strummer, and disappeared for three days. Joe and I had been in the studio for a while and he had booked us into rooms at the Mondrian. We were at the pool, our first day off… she showed up with Beanie. And she left with this chalet guy. He was a singer.”

The situation became problematic when the two musicians realized that Love had completely disappeared. They then found themselves having to look after the little girl. “So we went to the studio to continue… We left the little girl with Joe’s wife. A few hours later, his wife called, ‘I don’t know what the fuck to do. The little girl’s still here. She’s gone.'”

Rat Scabies he continued his story by describing how they tried to manage the situation until someone more experienced arrived. “We put her in funny clothes. But that was it. Really. Luckily there were people around who said, ‘We’re used to dealing with Courtney.’ They got Beanie, Frances Bean. And then a couple of days later she came and got her.” Love’s addiction problems have repeatedly affected his ability to retain custody of Frances Bean. The Los Angeles Times reported that Courtney Love lost custody of her daughter in October 2003 after she was arrested at the home of an ex-boyfriend and tested positive for cocaine and opiates. The Los Angeles Times also wrote that in 2005 Love regained full custody of her daughter Kurt Cobain in August 1992. A few years later, in 2009, the California Superior Court named Frances Bean’s paternal grandmother, Wendy O’Connorand the father’s sister, Kimberly Cobainas temporary guardians.
