Annalisa and the photo for the single: "Who says nun who says porn star"

Annalisa responds to criticism: “I’m not a puppet”

Annalisa, interviewed by Corriere della Seraresponds to the criticism that accompanied the release of his new song “Summer Song”, amid controversy over the video and reflections on the way he presents himself to the public. At the center of the debate, in particular, is the provocative use of images and words such as “nun” and “pornodiva”, which have sparked contrasting reactions. The singer-songwriter immediately clarifies the meaning of the artistic choice: “It was a choice to use these two words to raise a theme and open a debate. If I had said “chaste” and “provocative” the effect would have been different. I took the concept to the extreme with two definitions that, like many others, I felt attributed to me.”

And he adds: “There is nothing offensive in saying nun or porn star, they are two extremes, one of elegance and the other of shamelessness, cited with great respect“. A theme, that of judgment on women, which for Annalisa remains central: “There are those who would like women to be uninhibited at home and modest and diligent outside. I drew a little from my experience to say that we women are always subjected to great judgments.” Among the criticisms received, also those related to the construction of his public image. To those who insinuate that it is guided by others, the response is clear: “I take this opportunity to reiterate that I myself am not a puppet in the hands of someone that makes me do things I don’t believe in. I’m a singer-songwriter, I didn’t start yesterday, my work is my own work.” And on the change in her image over the years, she specifies: “I’ve never experienced this as a sudden turning point: it was gradual. If years ago I was a little scared girl, now I think I have learned many things. And even if I bare my legs, I’m still a good girl“.
