My Chemical Romance’s secret theater project
The American band My Chemical Romance she may be involved in the development of a new and mysterious theater project. The indiscretion comes from the playwright and performer John Cameron Mitchellbest known for creating the cult musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”
During an appearance on the Bob’s Only Child podcast, hosted by Bob the Drag Queen, Mitchell revealed that he is working with the band on a project aimed at the theater, while maintaining the maximum confidentiality on the details. The artist explained that the initiative has not yet been officially announced and that some contractual issues still need to be defined.
“It’s a little secret“, Mitchell said during the conversation, hinting that the agreement has not yet been formalized but that the project is indeed in development. Although no precise information on the nature of the show was provided, the collaboration between the playwright and the band seems plausible: My Chemical Romance have long been known for strong theatrical character of their live performances and for the narrative aesthetic of their albums.
It is not the first time that there has been talk of a possible theatrical adaptation linked to the band. Formerly the frontman Gerard Way he had mentioned the possibility of turning the famous album “The Black Parade” into a musical, although at the time he felt it was still too early to do so.
