Alice Cooper announces definitive autobiography
For over sixty years, the world has known Alice Cooper like the “Godfather of Shock Rock”: the man with the dripping makeup, the snakes around his neck and the guillotine always ready on stage. But behind that mask of nightmares and Grand Guignol theater lies hidden Vincent Damon Furniera pastor’s son, a sober, religious and happily married man. Today, that fine line between man and monster is about to be drawn in indelible ink.
Alice Cooper has announced the release of his definitive autobiography, entitled “Devil on My Shoulder” (The devil on my shoulder), scheduled forOctober 8, 2026. It is not just a memoir, but the account of an “evolution” – as he himself defines it – which led the meek Vincent to transform into a creature that risked consuming him.
In this 352-page volume, Cooper promises to finally separate fact from fiction. We will talk about famous legends: from slaughtered chickens (which terrified parents across America) to burning records, from séances to blackouts caused by alcohol.
But the story goes deeper, into the shadows of a constructed career between excesses and desperation. Cooper hides nothing: he will talk about his darkest years, the creative process fueled by drugs and TV turned on 24 hours a day, and that spiral that took him to the top of the world and then made him slide violently downwards.
Alice Cooper’s life was not just music, but an incredible intersection of destinies. The book features intimate and often witty anecdotes involving characters who seem to belong to opposite worlds: from the surrealism of Salvador Dalí to the genius of John Lennonfrom the charisma of Frank Sinatra to the extravagance of Andy Warholup to golf games with Tiger Woods.
Yet, among these stars, the story of also shines a love that lasted fifty years. Alice will tell how he remained married to the same woman for half a century, even that time – he confesses with irony – his wife chased him with a frying pan in her hand.
The heart of the book is the “schizophrenia” of an artist who lived with an angel on one shoulder and a demon on the other. Today that monster has finally been tamed, Alice Cooper is preparing to promote his story with a presentation tour in the UK, where he will meet fans for an unfiltered Q&A (as always).
