Bruce Springsteen Releases Cover of “A Rainy Night in Soho”
Bruce Springsteen will release his cover of The Pogues’ “A rainy night in Soho”: the song will be released as a single on March 12th. This was announced by the current members of the band once led by Shane MacGowan, who passed away in 2023, to whom Bruce Springsteen honored on 12 May 2024, two years ago, on the occasion of the concert he held in Kilkenny, Ireland. What will be released will not be the live version of the tribute: Springsteen entered the studio to record a new version of the song.
Upon Shane MacGowan’s death in November 2023, Springsteen wrote a touching tribute to his colleague: “Shane was one of my favorite songwriters of all time. The passion and profound intensity of his music and lyrics are unmatched by all but the best of rock and roll. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Shane and his lovely wife Victoria the last time we were in Dublin. He was very ill, but still beautifully present in his heart and soul. spirit. His music is timeless and eternal. I don’t know what others think, but they will be singing Shane’s songs even in 100 years.”
