Fugazi release an album in memory of Steve Albini
In honor and memory of Steve AlbiniThe producer passed away in May 2024 at age 61, i Fugazi – discographically stopped at the 2001 album “The argument” (read the review here) – have exhumed from the archives and released a later discarded version of the 1993 album “In on the Kill Taker” recorded by Albini.
Apparently i Fugazi they recorded the entire album with Steve Albini at the Chicago Recording Companybut they were not satisfied with the final result. The band then returned to his hometown, Washington, and co-produced the album with Ted Nicely.
Now, in homage to Albini, i Fugazi they are bringing to light the “Albini Sessions” for charity. In fact, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Letters Charity – which provides direct assistance to families in urgent financial difficulty – a non-profit organization very dear to Albini. The sessions contain all the songs that Steve Albini had engineered and mixed in Chicago and that i Fugazi they would then rerecord for “In on the Killtaker”. It is available exclusively in digital format on Bandcamp for $10. Some songs from the album, entitled “Albini Sessions (Benefit for Letters Charity)”are available for streaming on Bandcamp.
