Springsteen, new live acoustic album with covers and unreleased songs
Just two days ago I told you about the release of “Live from Asbury Park 2024”, a live album containing the recording of the rocker’s historic performance in his hometown on September 15, 2024, scheduled for Record Store Day. And here we are with a new release from the Boss, already available, and part of the Live Archive series which comes out every first Friday of the month.
The February release is a Sydney concert from the ’96-97 world tour, a 23-song acoustic set that opens with Woody Guthrie’s “Tom Joad”, one of the inspirations for “The Ghost Of Tom Joad”, the album released at the time. The live album also includes classics such as “Atlantic City”, “Highway Patrolman”, “Brothers Under The Bridge”, “Working On The Highway” and a couple of previously unreleased studio songs: “Freehold” and “There Will Never Be Any Other For Me But You”, the first dedicated (with a lot of irony) to his hometown, the second one of the “light” songs written for the tour setlist, in which the Boss jokes about the love lives of Lady D, Prince Charles and Elizabeth Taylor.
Here is the audio of “Tom Joad”: the entire concert can be purchased or listened to in streaming (with subscription) on Nugs.net
