Published for the first time three decades ago, the eight parts series “Anthology” of the Beatles He reinvented the musical documentary. Instead of making use of an external narrator, “The Anthology” saw John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison And Ringo Starr tell their story.

The eight original episodes of the series retrace the journey started in Liverpool and Hamburg: Beatlemania, the arrival of the band in the United States, their role in the counterculture of the 60s, the spiritual exploration in India and the dissolution of the band. From 26 November a completely new nine episode will be made available, which includes unpublished movies behind the scenes of Paul, George and Ringo who meet between 1994 and 1995 to work at “The Anthology” and reflect on shared life as Beatles. The restoration was supervised by Apple Corps production team, in collaboration with Peter Jackson Wingnut Films and Park Road Post teams together with Giles Martin, who created new audio mixes for most music.

Restored and expanded to four volumes: 12LP, 8CD and digital vinyl, to be released on November 21st. The musical part of “The Anthology Collection”, originally curated by George Martin, now remastered by Giles Martin, in the form of three double albums of rare material, represents a cross -section of the initial development of the songs that still resonate today with the same intensity as when they were recorded for the first time.

‘Anthology 4′, edited by Giles, includes a further new element: 13 unpublished demos and sessions recordings some of which are incredibly rare. There are also new mixes of individuals linked to the Beatles’ anthology, such as: “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love”, to which new energy was given by their original producer, Jeff Lynne, using John Lennon’s De-Mixata voice. The original music video of “Free As A Bird” was also restored.

Both new mixes are joined by the recent single, the latest Beatles song, “Now and then”. All three singles were created starting from rudimentary housewives that John recorded in the 70s, subsequently completed with vocal and instrumental parts recorded by Paul, George and Ringo.

Among all the ‘Anthology’ albums, we find 191 tracks that will be published on November 21 by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/umg digitally, in 12lp deluxe edition of 180 grams and 8cd boxes. Both boxes include the original cover notes of anthologies 1, 2 and 3; The new ‘Anthology 4’ includes the notes relating to the songs, written by Kevin Howlett and an introduction collected by 1996 interviews recorded with the friend and adviser of the Beatles Derek Taylor.

Finally, on 14 October the edition of the 25th anniversary of the book ‘The Beatles Anthology’ for Apple Corps Ltd. and Chronicle Books will be released. Through its pages, John, Paul, George and Ringo share their honest, intimate and revealing memories of the band’s journey accompanied by the impressions of their closest colleagues, including Neil Aspinall, George Martin, Derek Taylor and others. The 368 -page book is illustrated with more than 1,300 photos, documents, works of art and other memorabilia from the band’s archives.
