Pogues, 40 years of “Rum Sodomy & The Lash”: a reprint comes out

After celebrating the fortieth anniversary With a short tour in the United Kingdom, the Pogues have now announced the reprint of “Rum Sodomy & The Lash“. The new reissue of the disc, originally produced by Elvis Costello, It will be available on CD from 19 September (in the United States from 24 October), e in vinyl from 24 October (in the United States from 28 November). Both versions include the original tracklist, accompanied by a bonus disco which collects the iconic EP “Poguetry in Motion” together with songs recorded during the session for Janice Long at the BBC in July 1985. In addition, the live executions of “A Pair of Brown Eyes” and “Sally Maclennane” are included, recorded at the Glasgow Barrowland in December 1987, as well as a raw mix of a Take excluded from “Poguetry in Motion”: Cover of the Pogues of “Do You Believe in Magic” by The Lovin ‘Spoonful. There will also be the B-Side of the original individuals.

After the British tour to celebrate “Rum Sodomy & The Lash“, which at his exit reached the number 13 position of the ranking in the United Kingdom, the Pogues will be engaged in a series of overseas dates starting from September.

For the first dates of the celebratory tour, the names of the guest singers who would take part in the concerts, after the disappearance of the frontman Shane Macgowan, who passed away on November 30, 2023at the age of 65. Among those called to join the original members James Fearnley, Jem Finger and Spider Stacy are Nadine Shah, Iona Zajac, John Francis Flynn, Lisa O’Neill and Daragh Lynch of Lankum. Live formation is completed with the musicians Holly Mullineaux (bass), Jordan O’Leary (Banjo), Fiachra Meek (frames/flutes – Alfi), John Dermody (drums – Lankum) and a wind section made up of Pete Fraser, Daniel Hayes and Ian Williamson.
